In the weeks that have followed all the devastation that Haiti has went through, huge amounts of support has flooded into the country in the form of food, medical supplies, and money or so we think! Lots of people are wondering if these things are even reaching the people in Haiti who really need it. Recently Wyclef Jean's Yele foundation has come under fire for it's mismanagement of funds and isn't he from Haiti.....okay... and now another shocker has hit the news....The Red Cross may be in question! Wow, The American Red Cross that started back 1881........really? Well, according to Russell Simmons who is claiming only a small percentage of Red Cross donations are reaching Haiti. "I'm worried about the Red Cross' overhead," he told the NY Daily News. According to CharityNavigator.com, the Red Cross' 2008 overhead was less than 10%.
All of this makes you wonder if any of your donations that you give to people in need at times of need even really get to them or does it just go into the pockets on organizations and rich people?
Is it all bullshit?
